Archived Email February 5, 2003 - Dark Side of the Moon SACD Fellow Floydians, It has been a long time since my last email from the old Yahoo mailing list. Now that I have created my own mailing list application, hopefully I'll be able to get a few more out every now and then. First things first, welcome to the new people. There are currently 29 subscribers to this list; a far cry from the 175 on the Yahoo list. If you know someone who loves Pink Floyd, send them to the Comfortably Floyd home page (http://www.ComfortablyFloyd.com) to sign up. The goal is for this list to reach 100 members by the summer. If you ever want to unsubscribe, the directions will appear on the bottom of each email. Do not reply to this email to unsubscribe, I will delete it. Other emails I will try to reply to quickly. However, this gets tough every now and then because of the large number of emails I receive daily. Comfortably Floyd is currently viewed by about 100 visitors per day. In the future, I plan on updating this mail list application to send personal emails, which is why I asked for your names when you signed up. The format of these new emails will be broken down in the following manner: 1. Announcements Now that you have just read the announcement section of this email, on with the Pink Floyd news.... -- Pink Floyd News -- In case you haven't heard, Pink Floyd will be re-releasing Dark Side of the Moon as a 30th anniversary super audio CD (SACD) at the end of March. The SACD has superior quality compared to regular CDs. Capital Records in the US has confirmed the release will have a new cover design by Storm Thorgerson. I have a mock up of a new design on the main page. It resembles a stained glass window, and looks pretty cool. However, this has not been confirmed as the final cover design. Be sure to take a look though. In other Floyd news, David Gilmour will supposedly appear on the new Ringo Starr album. I don't have much information on this right now though. -- Comfortably Floyd News -- Here are a few of the new features recently added to Comfortably Floyd. A quiz, streaming MP3's, a Pink Floyd biography, a privacy policy, a rotating poster store (to help pay the hosting fees) and this new mail list application. Some of the things on tap for the coming months: a new poll (Ideas anyone?), more MP3s, individual band member biographies, more quiz questions, etc. -- Etc. -- CDNow is gone, and it looks like they are now owned by Amazon. I'll be changing all of my links over to Amazon in the coming weeks, as to hopefully generate a few sales to help with hosting costs. Speaking of which, hosting fees were recently raised on me this month. There was a 25% raise this time. I may look into advertising (don't worry, I refuse to do pop-up ads). So if you guys would like to keep this site ad-free, consider buying a poster for now. Or you could always send me money via PayPal. :) Yours Floydly, Comfortably Floyd has been brought to you by one of many Pink Floyd fans around the world. It is in no way an official Pink Floyd website. Kevin Miller, the guy who runs this web site, is in no way affiliated with Pink Floyd, other than being a huge fan. If you would like to support this site, please visit the merchandise section. Comfortably Floyd is optimized for Internet Explorer, version 5.0 and higher. |
